Deck Wars Returns!

Written on March 9, 2009 by Martha | Posted in Latest News

Join us at Faculty Academy for the second annual Deck Wars competition. What is Deck Wars? Glad you asked!

Deck Wars is a competition in which the presenters deliver a short, impromptu, three-minute presentation based on a deck of PowerPoint slides they have never seen before. Each presenter’s work is judged by the audience for originality, believability, jargon, and poise. Each of the presenters receives a thank you gift for his or her bravery. The winner will receive the grand prize and the bragging rights associated with the coveted title of FA Deck Wars Champion 2009.

After surviving (just barely) last year’s competition, I asked my students do a deskwars like exercise in Spanish conversation class. They loved it.

Through this, I was able to move through the pain I endured with my loss accordingly. All is now right with the world :-)

Note: not for the faint of heart, but damn good fun.

You will have to go on without me. As the silver medalist of 2009, it will be tough to not compete this year, preschool is calling and I must answer!
